Ben Miller - Wolves 95s Alumni - Named Winnipeg Sun's Manitoba High School Male Basketball Player of the Year

The Winnipeg Wolves Basketball Club would like to congratulate Westgate Wings point guard and Winnipeg Wolves 1995s alumni Ben Miller for being recognized as the Manitoba High School Male Basketball Player of the Year by the Winnipeg Sun in their annual coaches' poll.

The accomplishment is even more impressive because Ben plays in the often unfairly overlooked AAA classification, but his talents and accomplishments were enough to overcome any obstacles in perceptions regarding level-of-competition. A regular varsity and club tournament all-star throughout his high school career, as well as a perennial member of the Manitoba Provincial Team program, Miller has already received recognition as the Manitoba Basketball Coaches' Association 2013 AAA Player of the Year. He also guided his Westgate Wings team to another AAA Provincial Basketball Championship this past weekend.

A member of the Winnipeg Wolves organization from a very early age, Ben's skills and abilities allowed him to play on an older team throughout his years with the Wolves-95s. Under the guidance of Wolves founder Martin Riley, Ben thrived under the Wolves team-orientated style of play, where his exceptional court vision and ability to create turnovers were immediately noticeable. He eventually stepped into his natural role as the team's starting point guard and contributed to the team's exceptional success as they captured three straight Club Provincial Championships ... which was amazingly all accomplished while Ben was changing his shooting-hand (he used to be a south-paw).

As he's undoubtedly one of the best to ever wear a Wolves uniform, our entire organization would like to thank Ben Miller and his entire family for their dedication to our program. We wish Ben the best of luck in the future as he completes his high school basketball career and embarks on new endeavors on the east-coast this upcoming fall, when he'll join the Acadia Axemen Basketball Team.
